1X. Gameplay Changes
  • Affection awards:
  • When Rance is fielded with multiple cleared characters, the bonus affection point will now be randomly assigned, instead of using a priority list
  • Genri can now appear in Tenshi Sect battles
  • Iga War Declaration:
  • You can now declare war on Iga immediately after Suzume's introduction, typically around turn 3
  • Suzume's introduction can be delayed indefinitely, by not rebuilding Teahouse Nobu
  • Suzume's introduction is also a requirement for the SES events, allowing you to delay their conquest of Yamato
  • Utility Commanders/Subcommanders:
  • Instead of one roster of 30 commanders, you now have two rosters with 30 in each
  • The first roster is your normal one, with the same functionality as base game
  • The second roster is your Utility roster, which contains Utility Commanders and Subcommanders
  • There is now a 'Next Page' button in non-troop menus that allows you to switch to your Utility roster
  • Utility Commander Abilities:
  • Can be used for Search, Negotiation, and Construction events
  • Can Scout before battle
  • Can be used in Dungeons
  • Can be used in Solo battles such as Botan Hunt or boss fights
  • Can hold most items
  • Can level up
  • Can be given affection items/upgrades
  • Don't take up space in your normal roster
  • Utility Commander Restrictions:
  • Can't participate in army battles
  • Have their troop count capped at 1
  • Still cost some NP to keep in your roster (Due to having a troop count of 1, they're generally low-cost)
  • Generally have few/no events, aside from affection upgrades
  • Upgrading their Attack, Defense, and Intelligence is pointless
  • Subcommander Differences:
  • All subcommanders (except Hibachi and Galmons) are also Utility Commanders, but not vice versa
  • Most Subcommanders can do everything that Utility Commanders can do
  • Most Subcommanders appear in the Utility roster
  • Subcommanders participate in army battles as a 'sidekick' to another commander, like Sill in the base game
  • Subcommanders have their own skills that they use after their leader has a turn
  • Many Subcommanders start out as regular commanders, such as Ryouma
  • Some Subcommanders start out as Utility commanders, such as Miki
  • Randomized Gourds:
  • The Iga Gourd now has a 50% chance to be in Iga and a 50% chance to be in the Miko Union
  • The Akashi Gourd now has a 33% chance to be in Akashi, a 33% chance to be in Tanegashima, and a 33% chance to be in Tokugawa
  • These two Gourds are hidden in the System Info menu, only appearing when they're broken
  • Nobunaga's dialogue now mentions all 5 clans as a hint to the player
  • Xavier now has events to conquer the 3 new Gourd clans
  • Class Differences for Generics:
  • Peasants, Animals, Red Oni, Blue Oni, and Infected now have unique class icons
  • The 5 Monster Captain classes now have differently-colored class icons to differentiate them
  • Generic youkai now have differently-colored portraits, based on class
  • Generic youkai can now have the Cavalry class
  • (FFA) Generic youkai now have unique names, instead of all being named ‘Youkai Captain’
  • Certain unique/semigen commanders will have an event when they are recruited as ronin by a new clan (Takeda Generals, Katsuko/Torako, Himiko, Tanuki, Goemon, Ikkyu, etc.)
  • Many female commander's recruitments are now labeled "Babe search" instead of "Talent search"
  • Kensei's takeover:
  • He actually removes all women when he takes over now; The Uesugi army is replaced with male units
  • Rance's Diary won't get new entries from Uesugi anymore
  • Any unique female units are sent to the ronin pool; Katsuko/Torako's base game H-scene will still happen if Houjou was conquered before this
  • Katsuko/Torako will go to Houjou if it wasn't conquered before Kensei's takeover, starting an alternate set of events
  • Increased Yamato's base NP by 1
  • New Game Settings:
  • There is now a menu with new settings that will appear before the New Game Bonus menu
  • Permadeath setting:
  • [1] None (Default)
  • [2] Instant kill moves (Assassinate, Commander Snipe etc.) will not have an increased chance for permadeath
  • [3] No permadeath
  • Any of your units that are wiped out in battle will be exhausted for 3 turns
  • AI units are unaffected by this setting
  • Assassinate setting:
  • [1] None (Default)
  • [2] Assassinate 1/2 become preparation moves
  • New Game Bonuses:
  • Uesugi House Bonus upgrade:
  • Unlocked by recruiting Kenshin, Ai, Katsuko, and Torako, then fielding them together
  • The point cost is increased, but gives you all 4 of them
  • Shimazu House Bonus:
  • Unlocked by recruiting all 4 brothers and fielding them together
  • Gives you the 4 brothers as troop commanders and Kurohime as a utility commander
  • You start at war with Amazon (Agireda's version of Shimazu)
  • Amazon has modified events
  • The Shimazu blitz does not occur
  • In routes with the Monster Army, Kurohime will be kidnapped during their introduction
  • 2 brothers are randomly selected at the start of the run (hidden from the player)
  • When the kidnapping happens, you must choose 1 of them to pursue Xavier
  • That brother will leave your roster and appear in the modified Monster Army events
  • (True/Isoroku route) The missing brother and Kurohime can be recaptured in South Africa
  • Special Characters:
  • More characters have been added, but there is now a cap of 5 special characters allowed per run

2X. Mechanic Changes

  • Hide status:
  • Some new skills (mostly for Archers) can give the Hide status, which is the inverse of Guard
  • A unit with Hide percentage can pass attacks to other units in their row, with the same mechanic that Guard percentage uses
  • The 'Ninjato Guard Swipe' skill will decrease Hide by a larger percentage than other attacks
  • Dungeon Level Up:
  • Your units will no longer get an instant level up when clearing dungeons
  • Clearing dungeons will award you with 'Celebration Pokkuru' items, in addition to the standard item rewards
  • Debuffs:

  • Debuffs have inverted arrows and are displayed in the same place as buffs

  • Status Cancel will remove buffs and debuffs
  • Healing skills, except Auto-Heal, will remove debuffs
  • Speed buff/debuff calculations:

  • Maximum for Speed buffs is -6 delay (or +6 delay for max debuff)
  • The 'Support Fire' skill doesn't use the Speed stat; it's delay is based on Intelligence
  • Higher Intelligence will give you more delay, keeping the skill in effect longer
  • Takeda actions:
  • Takeda can conquer Uesugi or Houjou (like they do in First Games)
  • This will occur if:
  • You control at least 8 provinces
  • You are at war with Uesugi/Houjou
  • You are not playing on 0-star difficulty
  • Mouri actions:
  • Mouri can conquer Akashi or Tanegashima (like they do in First Games)

  • You have entered a route
  • This will also occur if:
  • You have conquered Akashi or Tanegashima
  • You control at least 12 provinces
  • Class Base Stats:
  • Cavalry physical defense has been reduced from 30 to 20
  • Cavalry now take triple counterattack damage when they attack a Guarding unit
  • This stacks multiplicatively with Counterattack Rate Up and Wontonbokiri (which also stack multiplicatively with each other)
  • Generic Monks now have 1 more action than base game
  • Knights will now retain their Guard percentage when they attack

  • All items that increase troop count can no longer be used/equipped on them
  • Exclusive Nurse also cannot be equipped on HP troops
  • Now have a 25% chance to level up after winning a battle
  • Buildings Mod:
  • Every province now has a special building slot, which is used for the new structures as well as the Training Grounds from base game
  • Most provinces start with a structure, but they will be destroyed when you conquer the province
  • If you vassal the province, the structure remains intact
  • If you conquer the province, the structure is replaced by the Field or Ruins
  • All buildable structures will be built from the Field/Ruins, which are functionally identical and have no effect
  • Selecting a structure to build costs an action fan and replaces the selection options with a Construction option
  • Construction of these structures doesn't cost any action fans, only the initial building selection has a fan cost
  • Upgrading an existing building will cost another fan to select the upgrade option, then replace it with another Construction option that has no fan cost
  • There are 2 types of structures:

  • The 5% stacks additively for all structures you have with Get Lucky
  • A Fading Screen can become a Taiko Drum, a Taiko Drum can become a Toku Kanou Screen etc.
  • Each item can only be upgraded by one level, one time, so a Taiko Drum can't become a Ri Q Sen Cup etc.

  • Gold cost/sell value for Peasants/Animals has been heavily reduced
  • Peasant/Animal troop gains after battle have been greatly increased
  • Added Column skills that can target up to 3 allies/3 enemies
  • HP units like Motonari can now receive more than 50% damage from a single attack
  • Most attacks will still be 'soft' capped at 50% damage
  • Only exceptionally strong attacks, high troop counts, or strong buffs/debuffs will 'break' through the soft cap
  • HP units can now potentially take 100% damage from an attack

  • AI factions have +2 to all stats for all generics of a specific class, and +1 to all stats for generics of other classes; differs by faction
  • All AI settings are (mostly) smarter than base game. The new AIs will, generally:
  • Calculate counterattack damage better, resulting in less suicide attacks (Animals will always attack, no matter what)
  • Calculate whether counterattack damage will be higher than damage dealt, accounting for equipped items (Peasants will always attack, as long as it won't kill them)
  • Prioritize interrupting/focusing fire on units that are using preparation moves
  • Focus attacks on your more fragile units such as Mikos, Tacticians, Diviners etc.
  • Not attack with a solo Foot Soldier unless there's a good reason to
  • Attack with a Foot Soldier if there's a fragile frontline target and it has another Foot Soldier to Guard with
  • Be smarter with it's use of Defense Shikigami
  • Prefer Guard Cancel over attacking with Monks
  • Avoid using Witty Comeback if the player only has a slight advantage
  • Skip turns less often with Monks/Tacticians
  • Calculate the strength of HP troops using their HP instead of troop count
  • Textbooks/affection items awarded after battle are no longer completely random. They are now based on a start-of-game variable, so save scumming will not change what you get in that run
